Halmstad's first referendum, following a citizens' initiative against plans for a hotel with a restaurant and food hall at Österskans by the river Nissan in central Halmstad. Held on the same day as the general election.
No received the most votes, 57.4 %. Turnout was 77.1 %.

About the referendum
Municipal referendums are advisory. The municipal council is not bound by the outcome.
The referendum was held after a citizens' initiative, a petition among the municipality's eligible voters.
The votes were counted in the same voting districts as the election, and the map shows the election's district boundaries.
The municipality's invalid votes per district add up to 1,485, but the total is 1,487, which matches 63,290 voters. Invalid votes are therefore shown only for the municipality as a whole.
The ballot had only the options yes and no. The municipality reports all other votes as invalid.
The municipality gives the turnout as 76%, but 63,290 voters out of 82,059 eligible voters is 77.1%.
